A Man Once Told Me
A man once told me I had galaxies in my eyes
He said I had the brilliance of a California sunset
But told me to never stop chasing the sunrise
A man once told me my most precious asset was my light
He said that life would be tough but that was to be my focus
All I had to do was keep smiling through the night
A man once told me love would only find me if I found me first
He said to carry myself with the confidence of a New York skyscraper
That when the right person came, it wouldn’t feel coerced
A man once told me that truth was what I made it
He said that if I searched outside myself I’d always be empty handed
But that if I looked within, I’d come to know that meaning is what I created
